The Snow Queen Oak Leaf Hydrangea is spectacular and winner of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
Vigorous, dense rounded growth habit to 2 or 2.5m tall and wide. Large, heavily textured and deeply lobes dark green leaves which turn the most beautiful tones of red-russet-purple in autumn.
The profusion of conical flower heads to 20cm long are packed with large, white flowers which persist until autumn when they develop pinkish tones.
Full sun to partial shade, out of hot wind. Best grown on very well composted moist soil.
A terrific advantage of the Oak Leaf Hydrangea is its ability to withstand much drier conditions than its well known cousins (Hydrangea macrophylla - Ball Head type).
A welcome and excellent addition to the garden.
