Bred in 1849 at Comice Horticole in the Loire Valley in Central France. A greenish-yellow skinned pear. The flesh is delicate, very finely textured, exquisitely creamy and melts in your mouth. The flavour reminiscent of sweet cinnamon. Grows well in both cool and warm climates.
Pollinated by Beurre Bosc, Jospehine, Williams and Winter Nelis.
Ripens late in the season; April.
