Japanese Box is valued for its glossy bright green leaves and faster growth rate than other Buxus varieties. Larger leaves and growth habit than its cousin Korean Box. A popular choice for an evergreen hedge. Flowers are insignificant. Easy maintenance - clip twice a year to shape as desired and provide extra water during dry spells.
Unpruned, can grow to: Height 1.5m x Width 1.5m, but usually kept much smaller.
All Box benefit from Spring, Summer and Autumn feeding with a complete fertiliser such as Healthy Earth All Purpose and topdressing with Dolomite Lime in the Autumn. Best time to prune is after the Spring growth has finished and turns dark green.
For Hedge to 1/2m, plant 30cm apart.
For hedge to 1m, plant 50cm apart.
