A truly beautiful, large tree attaining a height of 15m and 7m wide over 15-20 years. The leaves are very distinct, large, bright green and unusually saddle-shaped. In autumn they turn deep, golden yellow.
The fragrant flowers, which look somewhat like tulips, are produced on the ends of the branches in summer. The bark is smooth and silvery-grey on mature trees.
Full sun to partial shade, tolerates waterlogging, drought, heat, frost and wind.
It will not grow so big on poor and dry soils.
Excellent shade or specimen tree for larger gardens and rural properties.
