A truly magnificent tree.
The Chestnut Oak is big, very big. A fast growing deciduous tree to 20m tall and 15m wide, conical when young and developing a rounded shape when fully mature (30 plus years).
Leaves are long, narrow, serrated and a lustrous dark heritage green, light grey beneath. The leaves turn rich coppery-bronze in autumn.
Perfect for large gardens, parklands and rural blocks. A fantastic, large specimen tree for shade.
Hardy to heat, sun, hot wind, frost and dry conditions - great in the Canberra region.
