Sappho' is one of the most distinctive Rhododendrons available.
The flower buds are pale mauve in colour before opening to pure white flowers with stunning dark purple-black blotches in the throat of each trumpet-shaped petal.
'Sappho' looks great when combined with the other varieties that have a distinctive dark blotch.
It tends to be a staggly grower if not pruned regularly.
Picking the flowers for inside is a great way to prune.
It usually grows to approximately 2 metres.
